School Foundation Groups

These groups will be held at Playsense clinic, giving your child skills required for a successful start to school, including: handwriting, drawing, cutting, dressing, social, attention and emotional regulation skills. If your child is in Preschool or Kindergarten this group is relevant, we tailor the activities for the group participants.

Suitable for children aged 4-7 years.

 

When: Tuesday 18th to Thursday 20th of January 2022 from 9am-12pm each day (3days) 

Cost: $650 per child

 

Please fill out an expression of interest form before the 1st of December if you would like your child to be considered for the group. Please note, we can not guarantee that you will be offered a place as we will be working to create the most beneficial group dynamic for your child and we look at a number of factors in doing so.

WeThinkers Group

This group will be held at Playsense clinic, for the first time in January 2022! The group addresses social thinking concepts for building better social skills and will include a variety of books, games, activities and suggestions for home to aid in learning these concepts. 

Suitable for children aged 5-8 years.

When: Tuesday 11th to Friday 14th of January 2022 from 9am-12pm each day (4days) 

Cost: $850 per child

Saturday Little Leap Group

Little Leap is a 6 week,  45 minute per week group program that has been designed by occupational therapists to provide school readiness skills. 

 

Little Leap provides practice in foundation skills in preparation for learning. Areas targeted are:
 

  • Breath regulation

  • Fine motor skills

  • Gross motor skills

  • Calming skills

  • Group skills

The program targets areas to enable performance in functional tasks such as playing sport and games, sustained attention, following instructions, foundations for reading and writing, following a group structure, posture, static balance and transitions.

Little Leap group will be run by occupational therapy assistants every Saturday for 6 weeks from 2-2:45pm. The total cost for this group is $480 per child you can join this group at any time.

Online Little Leap Group

Little Leap is now being delivered online via zoom! The group program has been modified for delivery over zoom and will still focus on development of foundation skills in preparation for learning. Areas targeted are:
 

  • Breath regulation

  • Fine motor skills

  • Gross motor skills

  • Calming skills

  • Group skills

The program targets areas to enable performance in functional tasks such as playing sport and games, sustained attention, following instructions, foundations for reading and writing, following a group structure, posture, static balance and transitions. 

Little Leap group will be run by occupational therapy assistants on Wednesdays at 11am and Saturdays at 2pm. The total cost for this group is $300 per child and you are welcome to join as many sessions as you like over the 4 week block in September!

 

You will need to print some resources that we will email the day prior. You will need to supervise your child during this time to support them to get the most out of this group.

    Pencil Pals Online Group

Pencil Pals Online Group focuses on all things pencil skills!

The group will aim to help your child develop essential pencil skills, including, pencil grip, strength, control, drawing skills and letter and numeral formation!


Designed by two of our Senior OTs, Pencil Pals will be run by our
OT Assistants over zoom. You will need to print some resources
that we will email the day prior. You will need to supervise your
child during this time to support them to get the most out of
this group.

Pencil Pals will be run  on Wednesdays at 9am and Saturdays at 10am. The total cost for this group is $300 per child and you are welcome to join as many sessions as you like over the 4 week block in September!

Tween and Adolescent Social Skills Weekly and Holiday Groups

Early adolescence is a time when interpersonal relationships take on greater importance, which is why developing social skills at this age is so important. This group focuses on age- appropriate activities as a means of developing social interaction skills in adolescents. The sessions will involve activities designed to develop theory of mind, flexible thinking, empathy & narrative ability. Parents will receive a short summary report identifying your child’s strengths, and additional areas to work on following the group.

Suitable for young people aged 9-14 years.

This group runs during the school holidays and the total cost is $595 per child. 

The weekly group held during term is across a 6 week block. Each session runs for 60mins per week and the total cost is $600 per child.

Learn to Play Weekly Group

Play is a child's main occupation and play skills support regulation, social skills, including collaboration and perspective taking, problem solving and generation of ideas and narratives. The Learn to Play group will be held at Playsense Clinic and will focus on building your child's play skills. It is suitable for preschool aged children and will have a maximum number of 6 children per group.

This weekly group will be held during school term across an 8 week block. Each session runs for 60mins per week. The total cost of the group is $750 per child. This is includes a 10 minute handover with parents at the conclusion of each session to provide practical strategies to practice at home for the week.

Activity Club

Playsense Activity Club provides you weekly activities to do with your child at home. All activities are designed by occupational therapists and contain tips and tricks of how to promote your child's development.  
 
Each pack is $30 + GST and is emailed to you on the Monday of the week you have booked. You can book on a week to week basis, meaning you are not locked in.
